What Color is Your Property Tax Statement? Is it Green or Yellow?
Ever noticed the color of your property tax statement and wondered what it means? Here’s a quick guide to help you understand the significance behind these colors.
Green or Yellow: Here’s What Your Property Tax Statement Color Means
Green Statement:
If your tax statement is green, it indicates that no lender has requested information and the property owner is responsible for paying the bill.
Yellow Statement:
A yellow statement can indicate one of two things:
Senior or Disabled Tax Deferral: If you’re a senior or qualify for disability benefits, you may be part of a tax deferral program. In this case, the Oregon Department of Revenue may pay all or part of your property tax on your behalf.
Lender Payment: In most cases, however, yellow means a lender has requested your tax information, and they will likely be handling the payment through your escrow account.
